WHO ARE WE?
Emergency Medical Team Curacao Foundation (EMT Curacao) was founded on March 11th, 2020.
The TEAM consists of friends who really care about people’s lives. Some have over 20 years of experience in the field. As first aid responders, we are here to help eliminate preventable deaths at work, in homes and communities.
The EMT Curacao family takes this work very seriously. Above all people’s lives depend on it.
We love life, our people and our island. This is why we live by our motto:

MISSION & VISION
Our core mission is to provide the whole community with the highest standards of first aid skills, services and volunteering opportunities. We therefore provide all of our members the opportunity to follow advanced courses and training in cooperation with other organizations in the field.
EMT’s vision is to be recognized in the industry. We provide quality training with quality trainers, a full house of highly skilled disciplined volunteers with a clear mindset. In this way we can be ready to serve the community of Curaçao and region.
Our core values are to motivate, empower and produce highly skilled volunteers to save lives without discrimination in our communities.
We strive through leadership, research, education, advocacy and most importantly teamwork.
IMPORTANCE OF FIRST RESPONSE
Many lives could be spared awaiting emergency medical personnel to arrive, of which can take up to 10 minutes or more. An oxygen deprived person can suffer brain damage in just 4 minutes and brain death in just 8 to 10 minutes. Depending on the injury, a person can bleed out in less than 5 minutes.
Critical thinking is essential in an emergency. Therefor First Responders must be able and capable of fast accurate analysis, sound reasoning and excellent decision making. Working in this field requires the ability to think critically and act quickly in response to any unexpected situation in a professional, disciplined and objective manner.
EMT therefore provides frequent intensive training sessions in order to maintain excellent skills and clear mindsets.
